Mick Foley's Greatest Hits and Misses Hardcore Edition review

Posted : 3 months, 2 weeks ago on 28 April 2018 09:18 (A review of Mick Foley's Greatest Hits and Misses Hardcore Edition)

Foley may have not been one of the most athletic of pro-wrestlers but his willingness to put his body on the line and his storytelling ability made him one of the most loved superstars of all time. This DVD charts the majority of his standout matches (with a couple of notable absences) with Foley reflecting on them with his trademark self deprecating witty banter. My personal favourites include his outstanding match against Shawn Michaels in 1996 and my all time favourite Foley match being that of his hardcore match against Randy Orton in 2004, a match which in my opinion takes the template of his match against Triple H in 2000 (one much beloved by fans but in my opinion is slightly overrated, the blatant switch for the fake barbwire 2x4 ruins my suspension of disbelief every time) and improves on it. Have to mention the extras on this set too, as they're truly excellent, special mention for those amazing ECW promos, which are genuinely some of the best Iv'e seen in the whole of wrestling.

WWE - Bret Hitman Hart - The Best There Is : The Best There Was : The Best There Ever Will Be review

Posted : 3 months, 3 weeks ago on 23 April 2018 04:37 (A review of WWE - Bret Hitman Hart - The Best There Is : The Best There Was : The Best There Ever Will Be )

It becomes strikingly obvious if you go back and watch a bunch of 90's PPV's that in regards to match quality there was only really two wrestlers who stand out. One is Shawn Michaels, the other is Bret Hart. It could be argued over who was the overall better wrestler but for me Harts matches just stand out that bit more, quite simply he was the better in-ring storyteller, and the matches compiled on this three set disc (including those against Mr. Perfect, British Bulldog, his brother Owen and the Submission match against Steve Austin) really prove exactly how good he really was. Fantastic and detailed Documentary too, which while perhaps not hugely accessible to new fans will please the diehards to no end.
